Cape Royale Marina Fishing RulesFebrary, 2010Last year the POA Board voted new rules related to fishing on the marina piers. Boat slip renters have priority of access to the marina piers. Although we have many fisherman who enjoy our marina piers, some fisherman have created a nuisance and safety issue by "camping out" on the piers and impeding access of slip renters. As a result, the POA Board voted to restrict lawn chairs, ice chests, food, drink, multiple fishing poles, etc. from the marina piers that would impede the free access of slip renters to their vessels or generally create a nuisance. We ask that all fisherman be respectful of slip renters and "give right-of-way" when they are on the piers. We ask that fisherman remove trash, fish baskets/stringers, minnow buckets, etc. when they leave the piers. We also ask that fisherman help minimize traffic, by keeping their non-fishing guests (children and grown-ups alike) off the piers. Fisherman may continue to enjoy their lawn chairs, ice-chests, and the like around the banks of the marina. It is our desire that all property owners, slip renters, and guests enjoy our marina facilities. If you see anyone who is causing a nuisance, please report the situation to our marina attendant. James Chesser NEW MARINA GUEST POLICY SHARES MARINA COSTSEffective May 1, 2012From the Winter 2012 Cape Royale POA Communicape newsletter: "A survey of the marina parking lot last year determined that 90% of the vehicles parked at the launch ramp had visitor tags. Many of these were contractors, abusing their status as service providers in the Cape. The marina is expensive to maintain and cannot be maintained entirely by boat slip rental and store sales. In response to this, the Marina Committee has developed a policy, approved by the Board, to help insure that those that use the marina help pay for its upkeep. The entire policy [is posted here or] can be read on the POA website. "In short, property owners or long-term renters may pay a $50 per year fee so that guests on their official guest list can have unlimited access to the marina. This fee will be paid to the POA office at the time that permanent guest lists are updated. It cannot be paid at the gate. Occasional visitors or short-term renters may use the marina for a charge of $10 for one day or $20 for 2 to 7 days will be collected at the gate for any watercraft entering the Cape. "This policy will become effective May 1 [2012]. Anyone having questions about this may contact the Community Manager or the Board." Boat slip renters have priority access to the marina piers. Fisherman may not bring ice chests, lawn chairs, excess fishing tackle, etc. onto the piers that would restrict free access of slip renters to their vessels.
